A Wonderful Weekend for Grandma!

We are so blessed! It is such a joy to spend time with our grandchildren. Saturday night Trinity spent the night and went to church with us. We had a great time just being together and she brought the movie "Marley & Me" for us to watch. A funny movie, cute but boy watch out for the ending...very sad!

We got home from church and had a wonderful afternoon! Christopher, Ginger and Sarah and of course their mom and dad arrived to celebrate Christopher's birthday. I can hardly believe that tomorrow that grandson of ours will be 11 years old. It seems just like yesterday that Kristy gave birth and I got to be the first person to hold him right there in the birthing suite. I will never forget that moment. What a joy it was. Now that little tiny baby is 11 years old. Where did all those years go?

Lee came and joined us and everyone celebrated! We even had an extra unexpected guest. Kristy and Vic brought with them their little dog Roo-Roo. Not sure that is how you spell his name but he is a cute silky terrier. So that added to the excitement.

The grandchildren have grown so much. They were all outside playing in the yard. It is amazing how they have gone from little tiny children to youngsters who get along and love to play together. It is such a joy to watch them all play. They don't get much opportunity to see each other but when they do, it is just wonderful to witness.

As for Kristy, Vic, Lee, Sue and Roger, we all enjoyed visiting too while the children were having their fun. There was so much laughing going on. Remembering stories from when Kristy and Lee were young. And I think it was so funny when Kristy mentioned something about "her" room. Lee pipped up and said, "at least you still have a room." Everyone started laughing. Lee's old bedroom was demolished downstairs and added more room to the garage years ago. He said, "above a door downstairs is sign that says "Lee's Room" and it leads to nowhere! Well it struck everyone so funny.

I was quick to point out that he had a room, he lived here for a good while after his room was demolished. He laughed and everyone just got so tickled. He said ya, I was in "Kristy's old room." I don't have an "old room" anymore. I guess you had to be here to see how funny it was.

Then there was the topic of the "yellow bucket fish" that Vic had Sarah ask Lee about. Laughter once again. We had to explain to Sarah about Lee and the "yellow bucket fish". Lee gets so adamant that one day he will prove to us there is a fish that is called a "yellow bucket fish". I know you don't know the story and if you ever want to know, just ask and we will be glad to fill you in. Or better yet next time you see Lee ask him to tell you about the "yellow bucket fish." Watch him moan and laugh. I guarantee you will get a kick out of it.

The house is quiet and everyone has gone home. But once again, we have wonderful memories of a sunny Sunday afternoon full of grandchildren, our children and lots of laughter and fun.

I wish all of you the same joy and happiness when you get together with your family over the Easter holiday. I can hardly wait til May 9th when it is Trinity, Roger and Lee's birthday and hopefully we can all be together again. Let's hope Kristy has that weekend off. What fun that will be!

Love and hugs!

  1. WOW sounds like a great time had by all. Those are rare times and should be cherished. Yes time passes too fast. 11 years old it doesn't seem possible. I wish you many more happy and fun visits.+
